Calovex Software, based in New Brunswick, Canada, operates Calovex, an AI-powered fitness, nutrition, recipe, and workout tracking app. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights.

Who we are

Calovex Software is a sole proprietorship registered in New Brunswick, Canada. We act as the data controller for personal information processed through Calovex.

What we collect

We collect only the information needed to provide and improve the app:

• Account information: name, email address, login details
• Profile information: age, sex, height, weight, goals, preferences, activity level
• Nutrition and fitness data: meals, recipes, calories, macros, workout logs, progress entries, photos, user-submitted content
• Subscription status and purchase information received through Apple, Google, or RevenueCat
• Technical information: device type, app usage, crash logs, diagnostics, IP address, approximate location

Health and fitness data (Apple Health and Health Connect)

With your permission, Calovex connects to Apple Health (HealthKit) on iPhone and Health Connect on Android.

• Data we read: step count, body weight, active energy burned, and workout or exercise sessions.
• Data we write, only when you enable it: weight entries and completed workouts you log in Calovex.
• We use this data only to calculate your daily calorie budget, track your progress, and personalize your plan.
• We do not use Apple Health or Health Connect data for advertising or marketing, we do not sell it, and we do not share it with data brokers.
• You can turn off this access at any time in your device Health settings, and disconnect syncing inside Calovex.

How we use your information

We use this information to:

• Create and manage accounts
• Personalize calorie, macro, recipe, and workout recommendations
• Process meal photos and recipe images
• Generate AI estimates
• Track progress
• Manage subscriptions
• Provide support
• Improve app performance
• Prevent abuse
• Comply with legal obligations

AI processing of your photos and inputs

When you use a scan feature (meal photo, recipe photo, or workout photo), and only after you give AI consent, the image and related text are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic (Claude), to estimate the food, recipe, or workout.

• These images and inputs are used only to produce your result. They are not used to train AI models.
• Saved meal and recipe photos are stored on our servers and automatically deleted after 30 days.
• You can withdraw AI consent at any time in Settings. Scan features then stop working, but the rest of the app continues normally.

Third-party service providers

Calovex may use the following third-party service providers:

• Supabase: database and authentication
• Anthropic (Claude AI): AI processing of meals, recipes, and workout inputs
• RevenueCat: subscription management
• Apple and Google: app distribution and payment processing
• USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts: public food databases
• Sentry: crash reporting and diagnostics
• Expo: push notification delivery

User content

User-submitted photos, recipes, meals, workouts, and logs may be processed by our service providers only as necessary to operate the app, provide requested features, maintain security, troubleshoot issues, and improve non-personal product functionality.

We do not sell your personal information

Calovex Software does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

Payment information

Payment details are processed by Apple or Google and are not stored directly by Calovex. We receive only subscription status and transaction confirmation from RevenueCat.

Data retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary to provide the app, maintain your account, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and enforce our agreements.

• Meal and recipe photos are automatically deleted 30 days after upload.
• Screenshots you attach to a bug report are automatically deleted after 90 days.
• When you delete your account, your personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain certain records (such as tax records or transaction history required by Canadian law).

International data transfers

Your data may be processed in countries outside of Canada, including the United States, where some of our service providers operate. We rely on contractual safeguards with our providers to protect your data during international transfers.

Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal information
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your information
• Request a copy of your data in a portable format
• Withdraw consent for processing
• Lodge a complaint with the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or your provincial privacy authority

Exercising your rights

To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@calovex.app. You can also delete your account in the app at any time via My Profile, then Delete Account, or from the web at https://calovex.app/delete.

Cookies and tracking

Our website does not use tracking cookies or advertising trackers. We use only essential functionality. The mobile app uses anonymized analytics for crash reporting and feature usage. We do not use third-party advertising trackers in the app.

Notifications

Calovex can send notifications: reminders you set up (meals, workouts), achievement and streak alerts, and occasional product news. Product news and promotional messages are off by default, you choose to turn them on. You can change any category in Settings, or turn off notifications entirely in your device settings.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect your information, including strong authentication, encrypted database connections, and strict access controls. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's privacy

Calovex is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 16 without appropriate consent, we will delete it promptly.

Privacy rights under Canadian and international law

Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights under applicable Canadian, provincial, or international privacy laws, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Bill 25), the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

Calovex Software is responsible for protecting personal information under its control.

Changes to this policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. The updated version will be posted on our website or in the app with a revised effective date. Material changes will be communicated through the app or via email when appropriate.
